The New Student Orientation (NSO) process is designed to provide every incoming UAGC student with a strong foundation for success.

What’s Changing (as of August 2025)

We are moving away from live, advisor-led sessions and transitioning to asynchronous, classroom-based orientation courses. This new approach allows students to engage with the material at a time optimal for them, while still ensuring they are fully prepared before starting classes.

Key Details

  • Both undergraduate and graduate orientations have been developed.

  • All newly enrolled students will automatically be placed in a section of the NSO.

  • Students are encouraged to complete the NSO prior to their first day of class.

  • Orientation materials remain available throughout their academic journey, so students can return to key resources whenever needed.

Orientation Course Features

The NSO consists of a five-module course that helps students:

  • Navigate university systems

  • Understand key policies, procedures, and personnel

  • Gain exposure to essential resources

  • Self-evaluate readiness through “Skills for Success”

Why This Matters

This streamlined and flexible approach supports student confidence, reduces first-term challenges, and fosters long-term success. It also ensures that every student—regardless of schedule or location—receives consistent preparation before beginning their coursework.
