FERPA (Family Education Rights and Privacy Act) is a federal law designed to protect the privacy of education records. It also provides guidelines for the appropriate use and release of student education records.

FERPA gives students the right to inform the institution that directory information is not to be released without their prior written consent. There are several exceptions, however, when that permission is not required.
Please review the FERPA Guidelines and Acknowledgement for more information.
